CCI Gains Federal DBE Certifiation

MUKILTEO, Washington – February 25, 2009 – Computer Consultants International (CCI) announced today that as of February 2009 it has received Federal DBE Certification under the US Department of Transportation’s DBE program. According to records maintained by Washington State’s Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises, CCI is now the only Minority and Woman Owned firm in the state of Washington with DBE Certification in the Computer Systems Design Services industry (NAICS Code 541512) and one of only three in the Custom Computer Programming Services industry (NAICS Code 541511).

CCI has been OMWBE Certified in the State of Washington since May 2008, and M/WBE Certified in the State of Oregon since August 2007. “I am glad that CCI has DBE Certification, because this allows CCI to participate in federally funded projects with both State and Federal DOTs,” said Arshia Tayyab, CCI’s President and CEO. “I am particularly looking forward to working at the Federal level, and to play a role in improving our economy and hiring and helping as many people as I can.”

CCI has been working with the Departments of Transportation in several states since 1999, and DBE Certification allows these agencies to get credit with the US Federal Government for many projects. Unlike the state-level certifications, which involve voluntary participation rates from state agencies, the US DOT sets a mandatory participation rate for Federally funded projects to work with DBE-Certified firms on all projects that use Federal money.

About Federal DBE Certification

The US Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program is intended to ensure nondiscrimination in the award and administration of DOT-assisted contracts in the Department’s highway, transit, airport, and highway safety financial assistance programs by ensuring a “level playing field” in which DBEs can compete
fairly for contracts. The program also seeks to reduce burdens on small businesses.
